Lost In Taste | Canva Restaurant Menu Design; Christiansburg, VA

Design, Print DesignSarah Vogl

We designed the Lost In Taste menu on Canva from Day 0. I knew from experience how helpful a Canva menu is for a constantly evolving restaurant, so this was a perfect fit for them.

The staff at Lost In Taste has done a great job adhering to the styling queues I created in the first template, and I’m always impressed with what they are able to add and change while sticking to all the design principles we put in place for them.

We also designed the logo, branding, and website for this business.

Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse | Canva Restaurant Menu Design and Logo Modifications

Design, Print Design, Logo DesignSarah Vogl

After several versions and many price updates, it was finally time to convert Kabuki’s menu to a Canva document they could edit themselves.

When we first created this menu, Canva was not as popular of choice for this kind of thing, so it was done in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. This required the owner to pay me every time he needed to change.

After about 10 hours of work, he can now make these changes himself, put part of his marketing budget towards other things, and make price changes to the menu more frequently to keep up with fluctuating food costs.

Logo and branding design, menu design, website design, and social media management for a locally-owned frozen yogurt shop in Salem, VA.

The owners wanted to create an atmosphere that's a little more comfortable and classy than the usual overly-playful frozen yogurt shop style. While the outside of the store is bright blue, the inside is a lighter blue and purple with black granite tiled counter-tops and sparkly lights. I tried to bring this idea to the logo and graphic style by pairing a cute, cartoonish waffle character with the Pacifico script font and Lato.

Working in and managing the store helped me address changes to the format of the menu so that it would be easy to understand. In addition to a paper printed menu, I also designed our chalkboard menu on my computer and then translated that design into paint on our chalkboard wall.

Website & Social Media

While I managed the shop, I also managed their social media accounts and website. I built their website on Tumblr because it's seamless and super affordable. I blogged about it.

Miraculously, the website is still up even though the business is closed. salembto.com
