Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse | Canva Restaurant Menu Design and Logo Modifications

Update to a post that was initially made on March 28, 2017, and edited on January 31, 2019, and February 27. 2024.

After several versions and many price updates, it was finally time to convert Kabuki’s menu to a Canva document they could edit themselves.

When we first created this menu, Canva was not as popular of choice for this kind of thing, so it was done in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. This required the owner to pay me every time he needed to change.

After about 10 hours of work, he can now make these changes himself, put part of his marketing budget towards other things, and make price changes to the menu more frequently to keep up with fluctuating food costs.

The difference between the old menu and this new one was practically indiscernible (unless you’re me), so I have removed the old versions from this post.

Dining Menu

Inevitably part of my job is copyediting, so it was fun to come up with a way to tell people not to leave their menu on the grill that was a little funny (i.e. cooking your menu) but clear and polite.

I was pretty pleased to be able to fit a nice hibachi photo that I took years ago on this page in the process of re-doing the layout.

Sushi Menu

The sushi photos that have had the background removed and subject reflected is one of my favorite design touches on this project.
